WHITBY TOWN moved up to eighth in the Evo-Stik League premier division with a superb 5-1 win at Rushall Olympic.

The home side actually took the lead, after just five minutes, when Charles Reece scored but Lee Mason equalised after 19 minutes and Whitby then took a firm grip on the game.

They led 3-1 at the break after Steve Snaith and former York City winger Liam Shepherd scored on 28 and 38 minutes respectively.

Snaith got another five minutes after the restart and Craig Farrell, another former star at Bootham Crescent, completed the rout with 81 minutes on the clock following excellent work by Mason.

Last night (Tuesday), the Blues were at fourth placed Ramsbottom United. On Saturday, they entertain Nantwich Town.
