KIRBYMOORSIDE Reserves reached the third round of the Scarborough & District FA Junior Cup - but they needed penalties to get past second division outfit Whitby RUFC.
The visitors strolled into a two-goal first-half lead with early strikes from Sam Richardson and Mikey Kilpatrick.
Josh Butler netted five minutes before half-time to bring the Moorsiders back into the game before Kieron Bowes scored a fine equaliser with 20 minutes left.
In the closing stages, Moorsiders keeper Chris Nichols made two fantastic saves to prevent Paul Jobling and Damon Craig scoring.
They were perfect in the shoot-out, winning 5-4. Harry Smith was the only player to miss - his effort superbly saved by Nichols.
Cayton Corinthians won 3-2 at Duchess.
Jamie Whitelaw scored to put Cayton ahead, Ian Laing equalised for the home side, then John Hodgson and Jake Sands scored to put Cayton 3-1 ahead at half-time.
Gary Maw scored for Duchess in the second half but they couldn’t find a leveller.
