Sun Inn are the early leaders of the Moors League after a 7-3 victory over visitors Buck Inn ‘B’.

The match was finely balanced after the individual legs, with Sun’s Geoff Allen, Chris Pickering, Dave Thompson and man-of-the-match Neil Robson - who threw scores of 135 and 100 in a 28-dart leg - giving the home side a 4-3 lead, while Col Ward, Dave Cockerill and Georgie Peirson replied.

But Sun scooped the pairs and threes to cruise home.

Last season’s heavyweights, New Inn and White Swan, slugged out a 5-5 draw.

There were fine efforts from Swan’s Eddie Craggs (140, 3x100 in 27 darts), Tim Nichols, Neil Eddon and Paul Carter in the singles, but New Inn hit back through Nie Monkman (3x100 in 28), Sarah Hodgson and Dave Wray, who also hit a crucial double top in the three-a-side to tie the match.

There were also 140s from Swan’s Steve Cass and New Inn’s Ady Cook.

Blacksmiths Arms won 6-4 at Moors Inn after sweeping into a 5-2 lead thanks to Richard Sellars, Andy Biggins and a trio from Mally, Adam and Barbra Durrant.

Keith Dickson and Andrew Tock gave Moors hope but Blacksmiths took a pairs leg to seal the win.

Dennis Payne (140) and Nigel Aconley (125, 123, 100) scored well for Moors but to no avail.

Buck Inn ‘A’ edged Crown Inn 6-4 with good displays from Mike Phillips (140, 100), Dave Ord (2x120, 2x100), Pop Ellerby, Darren Marsh and Nathan Harrison.

Pete Dowsland and Mark Little kept Crown in the hunt but Phillips and Ord sealed the match in the opening pairs.
