MALTON pushed Huddersfield hard in their Yorkshire League division one clash but the West Yorkshire club won out.

Malt’s James Buckland, Mike Catling and Joe Woodhead all lost in their fifth and final game by the same score of 11-8. Malt’s only winner was Paul Buckland.

In York & District League division three, Malton 2 lost 3-2 to Selby 3.

There were wins for Malt’s Rob Taylor and Joel Preston. In their next match, they gained the maximum 20 points by beating York 5 5-0. The victorious team comprised Taylor, Steve Everitt, Jimmy Mason, Steve Towse and Andy Rising. Malton 2 are fourth in the table.

In division four, Malton 3 lost 4-1 to Selby 4, with Jon Pycock their sole winner. However, they bounced back with a 3-2 victory over York 6, with wins from John Preston, Pycock and Duncan Chapman. The team lie fifth.

In division five, Malton 4 narrowly went down to Wigginton 6. There were wins for Steve King and Kevin Goddard. Adam Duffill played his best squash for the team and had match points to win in the fourth game, before going down 9-6 in the final game.

In the following fixture, Malt beat York 7 3-2 with wins from King, Goddard and Mike Hammond. The result lifted them to third in the table.
