MALTON & Old Malton climbed out of the bottom two in division one of the Hunters York & District Senior League with a two-run victory at Folkton & Flixton.

Malton's total of 224-9 included half-centuries for Wayne Dawson, with 67, and William Spencer, who was unbeaten with 66, while Martyn Woodliffee added 33. Mike Hunter took 4-44 for Flixton.

Their reply included 41 by Neil Elvidge, 44 from Rich Malthouse and 30 by Jamie Nesfield, but Chris Hudson took 3-24 and Spencer 3-22 to dismiss Flixton for 206.

Heworth clinched the division one title with a six-wicket triumph over Whitkirk.

Fourth-placed Pickering were unable to stop third-placed Sessay's promotion charge as they went down by 138 runs.

Sessay's Dave Johnson hit 99 and was well supported by Tim Hall, who made 72, Mark Wilkie, with 29, and Matt Till, with 30, as they totalled 245-4 declared.

The response included 57 by Colin Frank but three wickets apiece for Liam Carver (3-29), Wilkie (3-25) and Matt Till (3-11) saw the Pikes dismissed for 107.

In the premier division, runs flowed at Moor Farm where Sheriff Hutton Bridge had the better of a draw with Studley Royal.

The Bridge were indebted to the Fisher brothers, with skipper Adam hitting 85 and Mark making 62.

Paul Scaling chipped in with 31 in a total of 263-8 as Lewis Day had 4-45 for the visitors.

Royal’s Rob Nicholson hit 104 and Mackie supported with 63, but Mark Fisher took 3-68 to peg the Royals to 226-7.

Stamford Bridge's Dominic Rhodes hit a brilliant 153 - topping his previous 138 as the best individual score in the premier division this season - in his side's five-wicket win over Beverley.

Beverley batted first and posted a useful target of 231-8 despite a fine spell of 5-72 in 15 overs from Luke Robinson. Figuring with the bat were Faisal Abid, who made 61, Olly Grantham, with 64, and Andy Burton, who top-scored with 75.

Phil Hill backed Rhodes with 39 as Stamford moved into fourth place.

Basement side Sheriff Hutton were dismissed for only 80 at Dringhouses and went on to lose by just two wickets - a result likely to lead to their relegation from division two north.

The important clash between second-placed Duncombe Park and third-placed Harrogate resulted in a draw in favour of Park, which should ensure their promotion.

Leading batsman Brian Leckenby struck 90, while Alistair Holmes made 65 and Jake Fox 28 in a total of 237-6 as Cameron O’Donnell took 4-43 in 11 overs.

When Harrogate responded, George Owram was again in form, making 73, while Andy Taylor added 36 but Connor Campbell claimed 3-13 in an economic seven overs to hold Harrogate to 169-9.

Hovingham boosted their chances of retaining division two status when they had the better of a draw with leaders Osbaldwick, whose 10-point reward was enough to ensure the title.

There were three good innings in Hovingham’s 203-5, with Stuart Prest making 66, Richard Bowling 42 and Paul Deverill an unbeaten 36.

When Osbaldwick responded, Rich Bowling claimed 3-30 and Simon Mosey took 3-47, but the batting of Rich Carew (63) and Andy Hall (28) saw Osbaldwick to a draw at 158-8.
