SCOTT JOHNSON came up trumps in the last Malton Wheelers club race of the season.

The campaign closed with a hill climb event from Leavening towards the crossroads to Thixendale, which is a challenging course with a varying gradient, making it difficult to get into a rhythm.

Johnson recorded a brilliant time of four minutes 10 seconds, while Cameron Turner powered home in second in a time of 4-24.

Taking the bronze position was visitor Neil Ridsdale, from Bridlington CC, who crossed the line in 4-36 riding a fixed gear bike.

It was left to Paul Hickman and Matthew Enticknap to race for the honour of lantern rouge.

There was 10 seconds between them, but Enticknap brought up the rear with 4-44.
