WHITBY Town collected their second point of the Evo-Stik League premier division campaign but slipped to second from bottom after a 1-1 draw with Witton Albion on Saturday.

Ross Davidson lobbed Whitby keeper Shane Bland from 20 yards to open the scoring for the visitors after six minutes.

Two minutes before half-time, Whitby equalised with a goal from local teenager Sam Calvert, who turned and scored from an acute angle.

Calvert almost scored a winner a minute later.

Whitby were at Trafford last night (Tuesday) and this Saturday they travel to Belper Town (kick off 3pm).

Belper are currently 19th and without a win, having had four draws and a defeat so far this season.

Meanwhile, Scarborough Athletic will travel to North Shields tonight for an FA Cup preliminary round replay (7.45pm). The sides drew 1-1 at the weekend, with Ben Middleton’s 70th minute goal cancelling out Dean Walker’s 24th minute opener for North Shields.

On Saturday, Athletic host Prescot Cables in division one north of the Evo-Stik League.
