Junior football round-up

MAN-OF-THE-MATCH Harry Walmsley hit a hat-trick to help send Heslerton Under-15s to the top of the league.

Rob Green (2), Luke Smith and Matty Pickard also netted in a 7-0 victory at Goldsborough with Walmsley completing the scoring after a technically brilliant shoulder-high volley.

Kirkbymoorside U14s enjoyed a 6-2 win at Fishburn with strikes from Keelan Simpson (2), Ryan Metcalf, Jack Coldbeck and Brad Thompson adding to an own goal.

Lucas Davison was the four-goal hero as Kirkbymoorside U13s edged an 11-goal thriller at Seamer. Alex Lilly and Lewis Eustace also got vital goals.

Harvey D’Alquen hit a brace as Thornton-le-Dale U13s won 6-4 at Scholes Park U13s. The other goals came from Ben Norman, Josh Peel, Sam Batty and Johnny Ridler.

Brooklyn U13 Girls were facing an uphill struggle when they travelled to Copmanthorpe with only six players due to injury.

A battling perfomance restricted Cop to three first-half goals but Brooklyn went down to five players in the second half and Cop made their two-girl advantage count for a 10-0 win.

Debutant goalkeeper Tanishia Flynn was girl of the game after a fantastic display to keep the score down.

Old Malton U12s beat then league leaders Tadcaster Albion 3-0 away last week and this weekend did even better – and how – with a 10-0 cup victory.

Malton dominated throughout, with Jake Wiles scoring four goals and Theo Wilkie three, while Sam Mann, inspirational skipper Tom Jenkins and, with his first for the club, Matthew Hopkins were also on target.

Goalkeeper Finlay Tunman played outfield in the second half as his side matched their five-goal first-half tally.

Stephen Kerr and Jack Rogers-Key stood out as Brooklyn U12s drew 3-3 with Braynton.

A Jamie Allen cross was converted by Oliver Townley, Gabriel Urquhart scored a belter and Allen also netted as Brooklyn went 3-0 up with the wind behind them. Strong defending couldn’t stop the visitors clawing their way back.

Lucie Nichols hit all five goals as Kirkbymoorside U12 Girls won 5-1 at Brayton Belles.

James Farrow also bagged a nap hand as Kirkbymoorside U12s thrashed Scholes Park Raiders 12-2. Ollie Magson (2), Rory Leonard (2), Dan Ward, Matthew Tarry and Ethan Ward also netted, while Toby Higgs was the man of the match.

Jake Edwards scored four times as Kirkbymoorside U11s won 7-3 at Goldsborough. Jack Biggins (2) and Max Harland also found the target.

Old Malton U11s comfortably progressed to the second round of the York U11s FA Cup with an 11-2 win at Rawcliffe.

Playing good football, Malton found themselves 3-1 up at half-time through Ben Ilsley, Lewis Pople and an own goal. They dominated even more after the break and added further goals through Ilsely, Pople (2), Josh Lee (2), Von Sumsard (2) and Cody Young. Brooklyn U11s were comfortable 11-0 cup winners against Pocklington Aztecs with man-of-the-match Bradley Freer (3), James Barrat (3), Ryan Gaughan, Marcus Brigham, Nathan Stanard, Joe Wing and Arron Dews all netting.

An outstanding debut in goal by Hamish Hudson helped Brooklyn U10 Lions draw 2-2 at Copmanthorpe ‘A’ with Rowan Ford and Billy Leach the visitors’ marksmen. The second game ended in defeat despite an Adam McWilliams strike.

McWilliams also notched for the third week in a row as Brooklyn U10 Tigers lost 6-4 to Copmanthorpe ‘B’ with Danny Charters (2) and Eden Cross on target too.

The Tigers’ second game resulted in a 7-3 loss despite consolations from Thomas Davies, Lewis Saunders and Ford with Rose Smith named player of the match for both her team’s games.

Kirkbymoorside U10s lost 4-0 to Scalby and Kirkbymoorside U9s fell 3-0 to Whitby Fishermen.

Another three-goal haul by star man Brad Spillar earned Heslerton U9s a 3-2 victory over Seamer, but Heslerton U8s are looking for new players, their weakened side finding it hard against Filey despite the efforts of top performer Tommy Palmer.
