Gold rush for Pickering Town’s goal-crazy youngsters

Pickering Town U13s
Pickering Town under 11s won a terrific 20-goal thriller in their first league game of the season against Goldsborough.
Hat-tricks from Matty Nicholson, Jordan Anderson and Tom Wright led the way in an extraordinary 15-5 win with Jake Balderson (2), Harry Coldbeck, George Ridler, Owen Ellis and debutant Joe Grayson also on target.
The pick of the goals were a diving header from Anderson and a superb long-range strike from Nicholson.
Pickering Pikes U11s got off to a winning start after David Heywood, Jack Dawson and Partick Thorpe secured a 3-0 triumph against Holt.
Another entertaining contest saw Pickering U13s beat Bishopthorpe White Rose 6-5.
The Pikes led 5-1 thanks to Luke Balderson, Thomas Richardson (2), Andrew Tiffany and Luke Hornby but Bishopthorpe stormed back level.
With minutes to go, Balderson then missed a penalty after Marc Hanson was tripped in the box but he made amends right at the death with a tremendous shot to snatch the points.
Harvey D’alquin (2), Jimmy Weldon-Bee (2), James Mudd (2), Ben Norman (2), Johnny Ridler and an own goal saw Thornton-le-Dale U13s start the season with a 10-1 triumph at Hunmanby.
Old Malton U12s new boy Elliot Bulmer scored twice from midfield to help his team beat Rufforth 5-3.
Jake Wiles (2) and Theo Wilkie also found the net.
Brooklyn U13s were 12-0 winners at Haxby thanks to Josh Berry (4), Luke Scott (3), Oli Farrow, Tom Walsh, Stephen Kerr, Jake Ullah and James Allan. Allan also hit a post while Ben Pickering, normally the team’s goalkeeper but playing outfield, rattled the bar.
Champions Pocklington were held to a 1-1 draw by Brooklyn U15s thanks to a header from man-of-thematch Arron Dews.
Brooklyn U10 Lions ‘A’ won 4-2 at Stamford Bridge U10s ‘A’ with man-of-the-match Billy Chapman hitting a hat-trick and Rowan Ford also netting. In the second game between the sides, Chapman (2) was joined on the scoresheet by Danny Charters in a 3-0 win.
Man-of-the-match Adam McWilliams (2) and Eden Cross were among the marksmen in Brooklyn U10s Tigers’ 6-4 loss to Stamford U10s ‘B’ before the team recovered to win the second match 8-1. McWilliams (3), Thomas Davies (2), Oliver Tetlow (2) and James Barker got the goals in that encounter.
Brooklyn U9 Lions won 10-1 at Wigginton Grasshoppers ‘A’ with debutant Lucas Croft claiming a hattrick and man-of-the-match Ethan Oakes striking four times.
Matthew Lock, Will Hartley and Dylan Dykes were the other scorers.
In the second match, goalkeeper Andy Cook played up front and bagged a brace.
Brooklyn U9 Tigers unluckily lost 1-0 to Wigginton ‘B’ but hit back in the second game to win 4-1 thanks to Max Farrow and Josh McBurnie double strikes, with excellent defending by Dean Fox earning him the man-of-the-match award.
