Strong start for Brooklyn U9s Lions

BROOKLYN Under-9s Lions made a fantastic start to the season with a 13-0 hammering of Dunnington A.

Matthew Lock’s header got the ball rolling, quickly followed by goals from Ethan Oakes, Oliver Towse and Will Hartley impressed on his Lions debut, scoring his first goal.

In the second game the Lions went a goal behind but hit back to win. Man of the match was Dylan Dykes who scored twice.

Brooklyn Under-9s Tigers drew 1-1 with Dunnington B, Rhys Grainge netting Tigers’ equaliser. Great defending from Dean Fox ensured it finished all-square.

Dunnington shaded the second game 3-2, Max Farrow and Josh McBurnie (penalty) netting for Brooklyn whose man of the match was Grainge.

Fulford Under-10s A defeated Brooklyn Lions 5-3. Billy Leach (2) and Rowan Ford scored for Brooklyn whose defender James Barker was named man of the match.

Brooklyn Under-10s Tigers shared six goals with their Fulford counterparts in a thrilling match.

Adam McWilliams, making his Brooklyn debut, put his team 2-0 up, but they had to settle for a draw, the other goal being an own goal. Lewis Saunders was man of the match.
