Cricket: Pickering Under-13s pipped

Pickering Under-13s were pipped to the inaugural Greenwood Hire Derwent Valley Junior League Under- 13s title after being beaten by Bridlington in the play-off match at Snainton.
Bridlington made 110-5, with Harry Burnhill top-scoring with 26 retired.
Pickering totalled 76-8, with Dan Ward, who had had his team’s best bowling figures of 1-8, scoring 28 retired while Brad Thompson made 13. Jay Welch claimed 4-8.
League president Derek Hall donated a new trophy for the league winners and vice-president Mike Tildsley likewise for the runners-up. Tildsley also helped to umpire the match and presented the trophies.
