Rugby: Sam Knight enjoys coaching boost

Malton & Norton Under-10s coach Sam Knight is one of only 20 young coaches at the Rugby Football Union’s national young coaches’ academy.

Knight won a place at this academy at Twickenham after being invited by the RFU to attend the youth sports trust academy, a gathering of young coaches across all sports, earlier this year.

The aim of the academy is to further develop coaching skills and build on the knowledge and learning gained at the sports trust academy.

Knight said: “I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity and hope to use the skills learnt within the club.”

Malton & Norton mini and junior chairman David Asquith said: “Sam’s skills as a young coach have already brought success to the mini team he helps with, as they were winners of their district tournament last season.

“This fantastic opportunity will only serve to develop his skills further.”
