School cricket round-up

Ryedale School and Norton College shared the honours as they met in Year 7 and 9 cricket matches on a wet night.

Ryedale’s Year 9s amassed 136-1 from their 20 overs, with Matt Butler (27) and Gareth Skelton (25) retiring in a strong batting performance.

In reply, Norton were all out for 80, with Gareth Skelton taking 3-20, Billy Garritty 2-14 and Matt Butler 2-20.

In the other match, Norton’s Year 7 team reached 79-4 from their allotted overs.

Josh Berry (26 retired) batted well, while Joe Scatchard took 1-16 from his four overs and Jake Cornick (0-2) bowled very tightly.

In reply, Ryedale scored steadily but fell just short of their target on 75-5 after 20 overs.
