Pickering U13s
Pickering Town Under-12s were celebrating after winning the Scarborough & District FA Junior Minor Cup.
The young Pikes beat Ayton U12s 7-4 in a goal fest finale.
Kirkbymoorside Girls have reached York League Cup finals at both U11s and U14s level.
Katie Walker and Lucie Nicholls were on target as Kirkby U11s Girls beat Copmanthorp Cobras 2-1 to reach their final, and Freya Morton hit a hat-trick as the U14s beat Easingwold 3-0 in their semi-final.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn U16s gave their best display of term despite losing 4-1 to high-flying York Cubs.
There was nothing between the teams for the first 25 minutes until Cubs took the lead. Steve Hoggard and Joel Preston had chances for Brooklyn and Hoggard went close again in the second half before it was 2-0. Brett Crowe pulled a goal back with a brilliant volley but poor defending saw the visitors add two more.
Hoggard, James Walsh, Joel Preston and man-of-the-match Cormac Hopkinson impressed.
A near faultless display saw Pickering Town U13s beat Hamilton Panthers 9-0, just a fortnight after they had scraped a 2-1 win over the same opponents.
Man-of-the-match Archie Barnes scored five in the team’s best performance of the season. Danny Wallis latched onto a long throw from skipper Barnes for the opener, with the impressive Ryan Taylor netting with a superb 30-yarder. Brad Thompson and Harry Croall also scored. Jordan Allanby made several fine saves at the other end including a penalty stop.
Brooklyn U12s beat Brayton 3-0. The excellent Tom Mooring’s fantastic ball saw Tom Walsh get the opener, a Luke Scott free-kick was flicked on by Walsh for Stephen Kerr to make it two, and Josh Wade’s ball into the box was struck home by Mooring for the third.
A second match between the sides ended 1-1. Brooklyn again dominated but after Josh Berry gave them the lead they missed chances and Brayton seized on a defensive lapse to level.
The following day, Brooklyn U12s drew 1-1 at champions Pocklington in their best display all season.
Brooklyn midfielders Wade, Jake Ullah and Berry gave Pock no time on the ball, and the pressure paid off when Walsh’s cross was handled, Scott converting the penalty.
Fine defending by James Allan, Joe Tetlow, Ben Nendick and Josh Carter frustrated the hosts but Pock levelled on the break. An excellent save by Brooklyn’s Ben Pickering kept the scores level but the visitors were unlucky not to win it.
Lewis Eustace hit four goals as Kirkbymoorside U12s beat Scalby 6-3. Nathan Konya and an own goal also found the net. Rory Leonard scored for Kirkbymoorside U11s in their 2-1 defeat at Scalby.
Old Malton U11s thrashed hosts Tadcaster Magnets 10-1 with goals from Sam Mann (2) and Tom Jenkins (2) in the first half and substitute Harry Bennett (2), Theo Wilkie, Jake Wiles and man-of-the-match Jenkins in the second.
l The Scarborough & District FA’s Senior Minor Cup (U16s) final will be played tonight (Wednesday) at Thornton-le-Dale's ground, between Scarborough Athletic and FC Seamer, kick off 6pm.
