LUKE Balderson’S goal 10 minutes into the first half was enough to send Pickering Town under-12s into the final of the Scarborough & District FA Junior Minor (U12s) Cup.

Balderson fired in from close range following Thomas Richardson’s pass and this proved to be the only goal in a 1-0 win over Burlington Jackdaws.

The young Pikes endured some nervy moments later on as Burlington pressed for an equaliser, but they held on to set up a final against Ayton U12s.

The latter edged Thornton-le-Dale U12s 4-3 after extra time of their semi-final – which would have been a great final – in front of a crowd of 95 at Ayton on Sunday afternoon.

Tom Fletcher-Varey fired Ayton ahead from 10 yards, but Harvey D’Alquen equalised and Jimmy Weldonby put Thornton ahead four minutes into the second half. A second D’Alquen goal doubled the visitors’ lead and they missed two glorious opportunities to go further ahead.

Ten minutes from time, Josh Penny pulled a goal back for Ayton and deep into stoppage time Bradley Hodgson equalised with the help of a deflection.

Extra time was end to end and a second goal by Ayton’s man of the match, Fletcher-Varey, four minutes into the second period put his side into next month’s final.

The Scarborough & District FA Senior Minor (U16s) final will be contested by FC Seamer and Scarborough Athletic.

Seamer beat Eastfield Sports Association 7-0 thanks to hat-tricks by Mathew Morris and Josh Venner.

Scarborough beat Kirkbymoorside U16s 2-0 with Mathew Robinson and Connor Campbell on target.

The Scarborough and District FA Minor (U14s) semi-finals will be played this Sunday (2pm) between Fishburn Park ‘A’ and West Pier Juniors, and Goldsborough United and Kirkbymoorside U14s.

Kirkbymoorside U14 Girls enjoyed an 8-0 win against Ripon Panthers as Fay Thornton (4), Hattie Braithwaite (2), Ellie Ramsey and Freya Morton got their names on the scoresheet.

Pickering Town U13s were 9-0 winners against Hamilton Panthers with man-of-the-match and skipper Archie Barnes netting five times.

Danny Wallis, Ryan Taylor, Brad Thompson and Harry Croall also hit the target, while Jordan Allanby made a penalty save to keep a clean sheet.

Two own goals helped Brooklyn U12s to a 5-1 win at Tadcaster Albion with Luke Scott (2) and Tom Walsh also netting.

Four-goal Alex Lilly and Lewis Eustace could not spare Kirkbymoorside U12s a 6-5 defeat to Scholes Park but Kirkbymoorside U11s beat Seamer 7-0 courtesy of Dan Ward, Oliver Magson, Rory Leonard, Matthew Tarry, Ben Teasdale, William Gascoigne and an own goal.

Substitute Matty Hill scored his first goal of the season to earn Old Malton U11s a last-gasp 3-2 victory at Copmanthorpe.

He also picked up the man-of-the-match honours with Sam Mann and Jake Wiles their other marksmen.

Man-of-the-match George Ridler bagged a brace in Pickering U10s ‘A’s 5-2 triumph over Strensall Tigers with Harry Coldbeck, Tom Wright and Jordan Anderson the other marksmen.

Pickering U10s ‘B’ prevailed 3-1 over their Strensall counterparts thanks to Zameze Deans, Bobby James and Jack Dawson, with Alex Myers earning the man-of-the-match honours.

Keelan Simpson (2), Ben Magson, Jack Coldbeck, Ryan Metcalf and Callum Harrison netted as Kirkbymoorside U13s overcame Flamborough 6-3.

Joseph Matique and man-of-the-match Joshua Mann shared the goals in Old Malton U10s ‘B’s 7-0 success at Bishopthorpe WR.

Old Malton U10s ‘A’ were 4-1 winners against their Bishopthorpe equivalents with Lysander Jones (2), Von Sumsard and Josh Lee the marksmen and Liam Mansbridge the man of the match.

Brooklyn U9s Tigers impressed against table-topping Carr Vikings ‘A’ and took the lead with a well finished goal from man-of-the-match Rowan Ford, but Carr won 4-1.

Brooklyn U9s Tigers came from 2-0 down to beat Carr ‘B’ 5-3. Billy Chapman hit a hat-trick, Ben McDonald netted, and Lewis Saunders pounced on a long throw by man-of-the-match Sam Honey to score.

Kirkbymoorside U7s defeated Ayton with Sam Rawson getting the only goal.
