Pickering Town under-12s marked their first game of 2012 with a thumping 16-2 win over Rufforth.
Luke Balderson, returning after a long lay-off due to illness, netted four times and was joined on the scoresheet by Gabby McGill (3), Thomas Richardson (2), Andrew Tiffney (2), Luke Hornby (2), Ben Metcalfe and Travis Gough, whose two goals were his first for the club.
In-form midfielder Harvey D’Alquin was also a four-goal hero in Thornton-le-Dale U12s’ 6-2 victory over Kirkbymoorside U12s.
Josh Peel added a brace, while Lewis Eustace and Alex Lilley responded for the Moorsiders.
A 35-yard thunderbolt of a free kick by Brooklyn U16s’ man-of-the-match Joel Preston could not prevent his side going down 4-1 to North Duffield.
Marcus Brigham’s non-stop work-rate also proved fruitless in Brooklyn U14s’ 2-0 loss at Osbaldwick.
Matty Butler, Jordan Thackeray and Jack Simpson were the marksmen as Kirkbymoorside U14s won 3-2 at Goldsborough.
Kirkbymoorside U14 Girls lost 2-0 at York RI, while Kirkbymoorside U13s fell 6-2 at Ayton, Keelan Simpson and Callum Harrison on target for the Moorsiders.
Brooklyn U13s, after four defeats, got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over basement side Stamford Bridge U13s thanks to Bradley Freer’s late winner.
In the first half it was hard to tell who was at what end of the table as visitors Bridge took the lead after a defensive error.
The hosts missed chances but the second half brought out the best in Brooklyn’s Jack Boyd, the man of the match who dominated centre field, and Josh Towse, who excelled at the back with fellow centre-half Lewis Grainge, while a tactical change led to the equaliser when a poor clearance from a corner kick saw Josh Berry thump home.
Then, as the clock ticked down, Berry’s through ball found Freer, who beat the offside trap and tucked the ball past the goalkeeper Goals from Tom Walsh (2), Stephen Kerr and Luke Scott saw Brooklyn U12s edge a seven-goal thriller with Woodthorpe Wanderers.
Pickering U10s ‘A’ hammered Haxby Town 9-0, Jordan Anderson hitting five goals, his first being a smart volley from Tom Wright’s great ball into the box.
George Ridler and Matty Nicholson, with a shot from outside the box and a curler over the goalkeeper, also hit doubles.
Pickering U10s ‘B’ enjoyed a cracking 4-1 win over Haxby Town despite going a goal down.
Man-of-the-match Jack Dawson, in his best display of the season, scored twice, putting the Pikes ahead with a clever finish. Morwenna Talling, again excellent, added a third and Max Fowler the fourth. Ryan Hugill continued his impressive form.
Old Malton U10s ‘A’ came from a goal down at half-time to beat Stamford Bridge U10s ‘A’ 4-2.
Playing with the wind, Malton levelled as Josh Lee converted a Lewis Pople corner. Two minutes later Pople netted from 20 yards and Patrick Jackson soon made it three after good work from man-of-the-match Von Sumsard. The visitors got a second before Jackson scored direct from a corner in the last minute.
Arthur Rees got the only goal, after good work from Joseph Matique, as Old Malton U10s ‘B’ pipped Stamford Bridge U10s ‘B’ 1-0.
Defences had been on top in an even first half but Malt started the second half positively and held on to claim a valuable victory. Kirkbymoorside U10s beat Ayton 3-0 with goals by Ethan Crusher (2) and Jake Nutton-Edwards, but Kirkbymoorside U9s crashed 9-0 to Scalby.
After a 1-0 defeat in their first match with York RI ‘A’, Brooklyn U9 Lions earned a 2-2 draw in the next game with Billy Leach and man-of-the-match James Barker’s first goal for the club earning a share of the spoils.
Billy Chapman’s brace and a man-of-the-match display from defender Danny Kaye helped Brooklyn U9 Tigers overcome York RI B 2-1.
Brooklyn U8 Lions were 2-1 winners against Stamford Bridge U9s ‘A’ thanks to an Ethan Oakes double strike.
Man-of-the-match heroics from goalkeeper Andy Cook then saw the Lions restrict Bridge to a 1-0 win during the second game.
Rhys Grainge grabbed the winning goal in Brooklyn U8 Tigers’ 2-1 triumph over Stamford Bridge U8s ‘B’, while Josh McBurnie’s brace secured a 2-0 win in the second match.
