Good result for James Rule in East Midlands 4* table tennis tournament

Ryedale starlet James Rule returned a fine set of results when he travelled to Grantham to compete in the East Midlands 4* tournament.

Competing in three categories, Rule, finished runner-up in his under-13 group and made it to the last 16 in the knockout rounds before losing to the much higher-ranked Nathan Butler.

Rule then competed in the banded knockout, again falling at the last 16 stage, before playing well above expectations in the U15 age group, where again he reached the last 16.

Over the weekend he managed to take sets off a number of higher-ranked players enhancing his national ranking.

Rule is currently ranked 15th in England in his age group and he goes to Grantham again this weekend to compete in the Chandlers 2* competition.
