THE scoreline says it all as Old Malton St Mary’s Under-11s beat previously unbeaten Ryedale U11s Minor League division three leaders Thorpe Reds 3-0.
Jake Wiles fired into the top corner early on and Max Spence saved a penalty to ensure Malton went into the break ahead.
After a slick move involving Charlie Coulson, Wiles and Theo Wilkie, Sam Mann converted for Old Malton’s second. Malton’s defence held solid, ably marshalled by man-of-the-match Thomas Cockerill, and the team continued to press, with Charlie Monkman scoring the’ third.
Brooklyn U13s, missing three key players, crashed 3-2 to a poor Easingwold side.
Brooklyn took the lead through Iain Kerr, thumping the ball into the far corner after it had fallen kindly to him on the edge of the area, and they quickly made it two as Josh Berry’s free-kick sailed past the goalkeeper from just outside the box.
Defensive errors, though, saw Easingwold pull one back and get two more in a lacklustre second half.
