Ampleforth College students Anna Gould, Philippa de la Rosee, Claudia Gerken, Cecilia Powell and Edward Robinson will represent North Yorkshire in the English Schools’ Cross Country Championships in Nottingham next month after gaining selection at a tournament in Catterick.
Powell, Philippa Jalland, Emily Thorpe, Mairie Crosse and Olivia Warwick have also been successful in North Yorkshire hockey trials.
College-mate Emma Wauchope has been invited to trial for the U19s Scotland lacrosse team, while brothers Josh and Jamie Reid have been picked for the Irish Exiles rugby union team, as has Geordie Tulloch for the Scottish Exiles, while Henry Forbes has been re-selected for the North of England squad.
Meanwhile, Ampleforth School U14s boys’ hockey team won the Yorkshire leg of the National Schools’ competition.
They beat QEGs Wakefield, Scarborough College and Pocklington in the group matches, York school St Peter’s in the semi-final and Scarborough College in the final.
