KIRKBYMOORSIDE Under-14s caused a huge shock in the York Minor League Cup with a 5-3 win over Pocklington.

Kirkby are new to the York U14s league this year and as such have started in third division. Pocklington are second in division one. The Moorsiders, though, gave an outstanding team performance and won the tie as goals by by Dan Ward and James Farrow supplemented a hat-trick by Oliver Magson.

Robbie Butler scored a first-half hat-trick as Brooklyn U16s gained bragging rights over Kirkbymoorside U16s with a 4-1 Scarborough & District FA U16s Minor Cup first round win.

Butler pounced on a Kirkby mistakes to put Brooklyn ahead and, after some impressive one-touch football, he got a second goal.

Kirkby came back with some powerful runs but excellent defending from midfielder Baron Gregory and sharp goalkeeping by Josh Ellis kept them out. Then striker Ian Kerr was brought down in the box at the other end and made it 3-0 with the penalty.

Butler's third goal made it four at half-time and, although Kirkby won the second half, Brooklyn went through.

Harvey D'Alquin and Lucas Davison both hit hat-tricks as Kirkbymoorside U15s surged into the second round of the Scarborough FA U15s Minor Cup.

The Moorsiders beat Goldsborough 7-1, with Lewis Eustace also on target.

Strike partners Luke Balderson and Tom Walsh starred as leaders Brooklyn U15s recorded their biggest win of the York Minor League division one season with a 9-1 thumping of Tockwith winning - eight goals coming in the first half.

Balderson powerfully headed home a Tom Richardson free-kick and he got a second after a good through ball from Walsh.

Jake Robinson tapped in after a Balderson shot had hit a post, before Balderson completed his hat-trick. Tom Richardson side-footed home before Walsh bagged two, Balderson the provider on each occasion. Walsh then set up Luke Scott, who fired in.

Brooklyn took it easy after the break, their one second-half goal coming from James Mudd's long-ranger.

Jack Biggins hit four goals and Jordan Anderson one as Kirkbymoorside U13s beat Scholes Park 5-0 in the Scarborough Minor League.

A great effort by keeper Zak Thompson was not enought as Old Malton Blues U13s fell 6-3 at Poppleton in the York Minor League Cup.

A long throw from Aziz Kirr saw Lewis Pople put Malton ahead but Poppleton turned on the gas and built a 6-1 lead before Malt battled back with goals by Joe Matique and Patryk Jadczuk.

Man-of-the-match Joel Buckle scored twice as Heslerton U12sbeat Holt 4-1 in the Scarborough Minor League despite being a man down.

Roman Butterfeild and Ollie Stanton also netted, while Alex Lyall had another great game in the back, and Finley May likewise impressed.

Jimmy Martin was man of the match for his robust defending and brilliant passing but his Heslerton U10s side lost to FC Seamer.

Hezzo's marksmen were midfielder Charlie Richardson, an own goal, and Jake Shepherdson, with a fantastic strike.

Heslerton U9s took the lead through Alfie Thompson but ended up falling 3-1 to Cayton U9s despite good saves from Oliver Harrison. Oliver Botterill was man of the match in midfield.

Lincon Welburn stood out but Heslerton U8s struggled against an impressive Scholes Park Tigers and could only find the net through an own goal from a corner.

The second game was similar, although the goal of the game was scored by Hezzo's Myles Johnson with a slaloming run through the defence before blasting home. Rio Howden was man of the match.

Man-of-the-match Kai Wilson, Malachey Kendrew, Oscar Webb and an own goal after good work from Kendrew found the net as Heslerton U7s drew with Hunmanby in a ding-dong tussle.

The second game, in which Josh Cass and Robbie Maynard shone, was also drawn, with Warren Stanton (2) and Wilson on target for Hezzo.

OLD Malton St Mary’s Under-12s shocked Dunnington, from a higher division, 5-3 in the first round of the York Minor League Cup.

A superb cross from Bradley Machent saw Myles Rodgers volley in an opener but Dunn hit back twice.

Thomas Alngohuro replied with a flying header and Machent’s powerful shot gave Saints a half-time lead.

Dunnington levelled again but Malton took control and brilliant one-touch passes ended with man-of-the-match Rees scoring. Rees then sealed the win after a solo run.

Heslerton U11s shocked Whitby Fisherman in the Scarborough FA Minor Cup by beating them 5-4 on penalties after the tie had ended 0-0 - Ben Flinton smashing home the winning spot kick.

Hezzo were outplayed for large parts but battled bravely, epitomised by defenders Will Maud and Tom Owen, the men of the match. Tom Horsley had Heslerton’s best effort in normal time with a left-foot volley.

Dylan Edwards got Kirkbymoor-side U11s’ consolation as they lost 4-1 to Goldsborough in the cup.

There were good displays from Harry Fisher in goal and Ben Hugill, Harvey Dixon and man-of-the-match Aidan Williams in defence but their Pickering Town U11s side were no match for division one side Poppleton in the York Minor League Cup.

Pickering, of division four, caught Poppleton cold and led 2-0 through Nathan Williams and a deflected shot by Charlie Monkman. However, Pop went on to win 10-3, George Hodgson snatching a late consolation.

Kallum Moston starred as Old Malton U11s drew 3-3 Woodthorpe in the York Minor League.

Woodthorpe went 2-0 up against the run of play before midfielder Moston scored a super solo goal, beating two players on a powerful run from half-way and firing into the top corner.

Nathan Dolphin’s double put Malt 3-2 up but Woodthorpe levelled. Both sides had chances to win the game, Josh Mann hitting a post for Saints.

The hard-working Dylan Dykes was man of the match and captain Will Lightfoot marshalled the defence well as Brooklyn U11s Lions beat Heworth 5-1. Matthew Lock, with a free-kick, Jay Jackson, Lucas Croft and Ethan Oakes, with two, including a stunning header, were on the mark.
