HARVEY TOWNLEY hit four goals as Brooklyn Under-16s turned the tables on Heworth to hammer them 10-0 in their York Minor League division one opener.

Brooklyn lost 5-1 to the east York side last season in the League Cup but it was clear from the off that they were out for revenge.

Striker Townley and Iain Kerr put them two up early on and Heworth thereafter had no answer to the Ryedale side's use of the ball.

A superb goal from Lewis Grainge and one from Robbie Butler made it 4-0 at half-time.

Heworth's long ball in the second half paid no dividend as Brooklyn's defence was solid, and at the other end Townley bagged a second-half hat-trick, Butler completed a treble and Baron Gregory also netted.

Brooklyn keeper Jevan Crick did not have a save to make, though their second-half dominance brought no more goals.

Old Malton St Mary's U12s got the new season off to a good start with a 6-3 victory over Easingwold Harriers.

Malton took the early initiative but Easingwold fought back and scored after a quick break.

Malton levelled within two minutes thanks to a run down the wing by Bradley Merchant, who found Adam McWilliams in the box. Merchant and Arthur Rees also netted for a 3-1 interval lead.

Rees scored his second goal, thanks to great play from man-of-the-match Will Fletcher, Thomas Anglohoru and Myles Rodgers, and was denied a hat-trick by the crossbar, although Huey Wilkie put the rebound home.

Easingwold clawed a couple of goals back, but Wilkie then scored his second.

Old Malton St Mary's U11s beat Osbaldwick 5-2 in their first league game of the York Minor League season.

Josh Mann forced home Nathan Dolphin's great corner and Dolphin slotted home either side of an equaliser. Osbaldwick should have levelled again but missed a penalty and Malton found an extra gear in the second half.

Kallum Moston burst forward from midfield and finished strongly, man-of-the-match Dolphin scored a fantastic individual goal and, although Osbaldwick pulled one back, the hard-working Moston bagged a second.
