PICKERING Under-15s lifted the Greenwood Hire Derwent Valley Junior League U15s Division 'A' KO Cup thanks to a 32-run win over Bridlington in the final at Flixton.

Pickering got off to a flyer with Matthew Watson (33) and Ryan Taylor (30) both retiring, and most other batsmen made starts with Kieran Boyes scoring an impressive 23, their total being 152-4.

In reply, Harry Burnhill kept Brid’s chances alive with a steady 31 retired as Harrison Male (19) and Callum Battams (17) scored around him, but tight bowling from man-of-the-match Watson, Boyes, Thomas Snowden and James Mudd, along with some superb fielding by Brad Thompson and Joe Harland, made it difficult for Brid to keep up with the rate.

There was a late flurry from Oliver Beckett (17 no) but they closed on 120-5.

Pickering U13s had less joy in the U13s Zonal Play-Off final - losing by just four runs in the thriller against Flixton U13s at Seamer.

Openers Marley Ward (25 ret) and George Stephenson (26 ret) got Flixton off to a good start and Cameron Anderson (13) and Finley Ward (13no) pushed the total to 111-4.

James Boyes took 1-13 off four overs and Max Harland 1-12 plus three catches.

Pickering openers Joe Harland (26 ret) and Owen Cowton (25 ret) set about chasing the target but tight bowling from George Stephenson (2-10) kept the run-rate down.

Going into the final few overs, the required rate remained about eight runs an over which increased due to Anderson's 3-19.

Pickering needed 10 off the last over and then four to tie off the last ball but a dot ball gave Flixton the trophy.

Meanwhile, Bridlington beat Seamer in the final of the U11s Junior KO Cup at Cloughton.
