KIRKBYMOORSIDE Under-13s have completed a Scarborough & District Minor League double for the second successive year thanks to a 9-0 hammering of Phoenix in the League Cup final.

Dan Ward led the way with four goals, with James Farrow and Ben Teasdale bagging braces. Lawrence Blades also scored a penalty.

The young Moorsiders now have a chance of a treble tomorrow (Thursday) night as they take on Scarborough Athletic in the final of the Scarborough & District FA U13s Minor Cup at Thornton-le-Dale.

Brooklyn U15s were just unable to follow their U16s team in securing Scarborough & District FA success.

The U16s won the Senior Minor Cup last week, making it successive FA cup triumphs having won the U15s equivalent, the Junior Cup, last season.

The current U15s crop met Cayton Corinthians in this year’s Junior Cup final and the game ended 3-3, with Cayton lifting the trophy.

Brooklyn Girls U11s won 4-0 at Scarborough to secure runners-up place in the City of York Girls League.

The all-important first goal was scored by Florence Pegrum and Brooklyn, growing in confidence, doubled the lead through Emily Cooper. Brooklyn were in full control after the break and it was only a matter of time before they added to their tally, Millie Crick getting on the scoresheet.

Francesca Shakeshaft and Rosie Smith also had chances before impressive player-of-the-match Crick bagged her second goal. The defence, along with goalkeeper Jevan Crick, deserve major plaudits as this was the team’s sixth consecutive clean sheet.
