MALTON & Norton Under-15s prepared for their upcoming tour of Northern Ireland with a fine 27-5 victory over Selby.

They showed their dominance at the breakdown from an early stage and, after the young Swans - who reached the quarter-final of the Yorkshire Cup - conceded a penalty on their line, Josh Wainwright went over for the first of two tries.

Cameron also scored twice, the first arriving after Malton launched a series of angle attacks at the Selby defence and scythed their way through, and number eight Hodgson also got in on the act. The second half saw Wainwright get his second out wide.

Malton & Norton Under-13s overcame Selby 40-24 in a very competitive encounter.

Malton’s running game brought early tries for speedsters Joe Browne (2), Jack Villa-Fordon and George Austin-Thompson, but Selby’s forwards monopolised possession for long periods and scored two good tries.

The second half featured two further touchdowns for Browne, one for Matthew Jefferson and the last word went to Alex Ball who sped clear along the left touchline. The perseverance of the visitors’ well-drilled pack and the excellence of their fly-half kept Selby very much in the game as they added two tries to their tally.

Malton & Norton U12s travelled to Ripon and played some exciting rugby in a draw.

They were a try to the good after Jack Thomas fed Ben Edwards to go over the whitewash but Ripon were soon level.

Malton’s backs were producing great flair and deservedly went ahead when Oliver Kelsey eluded the Ripon defence after a great move involving Adam Finlinson and Thomas Barker.

With Finlinson converting both scores, Malton led 14-7 at the half.

They were caught out twice in quick succession in the second half as Ripon surged back to take the lead but they levelled once more through Kelsey.

Good passing to create space on the wing meant Ripon went in front again but Malton duly levelled.

From a scrum near the Ripon try line, Charlie Blackburn saw a gap and went through on the blind-side with a few minutes remaining.

Peter Hudson’s conversions meant the game finished 28-28.

Malton & Norton U10s played two games in Ripon.

The first saw them defeated heavily 40-0 but there was a big change in the second. George Baldwin scored a try in the first half as Malton went in level at the break and Sam Woodhead scored twice in the second half to secure a 15-10 win.
