BROOKLYN Under-13s sealed the York Minor League division two title with an 8-1 win at basement side Heworth.

Brooklyn dominated the contest from the off, with players’ player of the match Stephen Kerr netting four goals and Jamie Allen, Will Scholefield, Harry Cooper and Jack Whathem one each.

Defenders Aiden Lumby and man-of-the-match Jake Fraser blocked out Heworth’s attempts to add to their solitary reply.

Meanwhile, Kirkbymoorside U16 Ladies stormed into the final of the City of York Girls League Cup with a 9-1 win over Stamford Bridge Girls U16s.

Meg Green and Emily Lockett both struck four goals, with an own goal completing the rout.

Ryan Mintoft got both goals as Kirkbymoorside U16s beat Fishburn 2-1 in the Scarborough & District League, while Kirkbymoorside U15s picked up a point in a 3-3 draw at West Pier.

Their marksmen were Keelan Simpson, Jack Coldbeck and Ryan Watson.

Kirkbymoorside U14s enjoyed an 8-1 win over Cayton U14s - Lewis Eustace leading the scoring with a hat-trick.

Alex Liley and Harvey D’Alquen both bagged braces with Tom Watson also on the mark.

A fine team performance meant Old Malton St Mary’s U12s returned from a three-week lay-off with a 4-1 York Mitchell Sports League win at Tockwith.

Old Malton conceded an early goal but they equalised as Joseph Matique finished smartly after latching onto Joseph Barker’s excellent through ball.

They started the second period well and took the lead when Lewis Pople found the net from a tight angle after more good work from Barker.

Josh Lee set up Matique for his second goal and Patryk Jadczuk ensured victory with a fine strike from 12 yards.

Kirkbymoorside U12s fell out of the Scarborough & District League Cup with a 4-2 defeat at Fishburn.

Jonah Polard and Jake Edwards-Nutton scored the Moorsiders’ two goals.

Joe Boyes was the man of the match as Brooklyn U11s gave their best performance of term only to be unluckily pipped 2-1 by unbeaten leaders Poppleton in the York & Ryedale Mitchell Sports League division one.

Poppleton started the game strongly but excellent defending from Cameron Mello, Oliver Tetlow and Ben Evans, along with outstanding goalkeeping from Billy Chapman, kept them at bay.

Brooklyn then broke clear and a ball from Lewis Saunders saw Billy Leech run through Poppy’s back line to score.

Tireless defending was almost rewarded with a second goal at the other end, Saunders hitting a post and Thomas Davies firing just wide from range.

In the second half, Poppleton equalised from a goalmouth scramble and, while Brooklyn sought a winner with good running from Rowan Ford, the hosts broke again to snatch the points.
