KIRKBYMOORSIDE Under-13s are Scarborough Minor League champions for the second season in a row.

A 5-1 win at Phoenix at the weekend sealed the title triumph and made sure they remained unbeaten in the league for the last two years.

Toby Higgs (2), James Farrow (2) and Huw Davies got the goals.

Kirkbymoorside U16 Ladies reached the semi-finals of the Scarborough & District Girls League Cup with a 3-0 win over Scarborough.

Emily Lockett, Meg Green and Paige Butler were the scorers as they marched into the last four.

Kirkbymoorside U15s had less luck in the Scarborough Minor League Cup, falling 2-0 to Cayton Corinthians U15s.

Thornton-le-Dale U14s lost 4-2 at home to Hunmanby in the Scarborough Minor League. Jimmy Weldon- Bee and Macauley Gibson were on the scoresheet for Dale.

Old Malton St Mary’s U13s started slowly in a physical York Minor League encounter at Thorpe Blues and trailed at the break.

However, they knuckled down and worked hard as a unit, to win 3-1 with goals by Jack Villa-Fordon and Jake Wiles (2).

Kirkbymoorside U13 Girls beat Fulford 2-0 to reach the quarter-final of the York Girls League Cup. Lucie Nichols was the heroine with both goals.

Depleted Heslerton U13s battled to the end but lost the last game of their Scarborough Minor League season 8-1 to high-flying Seamer.

Girl power was evident with fantastic displays by sisters Izzy and Briony Fawcett and ‘keeper Abbie Fredriksen. Harry Ward scored.

Brooklyn U13s’ superb teamwork paid off as they left Strensall with an 8-0 York Minor League victory.

On the mark were Jamie Allen (3), Tom Warburton (2), Oliver Townley and players’ player-of-the-match Stephen Kerr (2). Will Scholefield was the man of the match in midfield.

Pickering U12s went on a scoring spree to win 8-1 at Goldsborough in the Scarborough Minor League, with goals by Jordan Anderson (3), Jack Balderson (2), Mattie Nicholson, Bryce Richardson, with his first for the club, and an own goal.

Max Harland (2) and an own goal found the target for Kirkbymoorside U12s but they lost 6-3 to Flixton U12s.

Old Malton St Mary’s U12s twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at Heworth in a fine York Mitchell Sports League game.

They trailed at the interval but within two minutes of the restart Von Sumsard picked out Joseph Matique to equalise. Heworth retook the lead with 15 minutes left but Malton upped their work-rate and, five minutes later, Josh Lee picked out Matique, who held his nerve.

Pickering Town U10s drew 0-0 draw with Copmanthorpe Red in the York Mitchell League. Defender Harvey Dixon and ‘keeper Nathan Stephens excelled.

In the second game, man-of-thematch Stephens (2), George Hodgson (2) and Charlie Monkman gave Pikes a 5-0 win.

Brad Spiller was the hero as Heslerton U10s edged Kirkbymoorside U10s 1-0.

Hosts Kirkby started the better, creating the first two openings, before Spiller crashed an effort against their bar.

Defences dominated for long periods with man-of-the-match Will Maud and Tom Owen impressive for the visitors, though at times they were overworked.

A moment of individual brilliance by Spiller won it as he spun, beat two defenders and side-footed home.

Charlie Richardson was man of the match and scored an outstanding goal but was unable to prevent Heslerton U9s losing at Flamborough.

Goalkeeper Ben Peckitt also pulled off some great saves including an outstanding penalty stop.

Noah Garnett, Oliver Botterill and Aleksandr Berezanskij defended well for Heslerton U8s against a strong Seamer side, while Oliver Harrison made some great saves. Alfie Thompson was Hezzo’s man of the match.

Goals from man-of-the-match Tommy Palmer, Max Taylor-Barber and Myles Johnson saw Heslerton U7s to victory over Scholes Park.

Scorers in the second game were man-of-the-match Charlie Swiers (2), Palmer and Johnson.
