Pickering Community Junior School enjoyed a great competition at the Lady Lumley’s School Sports Cluster sportshall athletics competition.

Some excellent baton changes enabled them to dominate on the track, winning every race.

The team continued to perform well in the field events, accumulating 144 points overall to finish first, ahead of Thornton-le-Dale on 90 points.

The Pickering team now compete against the top schools in Ryedale and Whitby today (Wednesday) at Lady Lumley’s.

Team member Hannah Ellam was also chosen to represent North Yorkshire in the long jump, triple jump and hurdles at a regional competition in Hull on Sunday.

The Yorkshire U11s won their event, with Ellam coming first in both the hurdles relay and standing long jump with a distance of 2.01 metres.
