RYEDALE School’s Year 11 basketball team have completed a clean sweep – having been Ryedale & Whitby Partnership and Scarborough & District champions every year since they started at secondary school.
Ryedale beat Scarborough’s Graham School 59-6 in the semi-final of the Scarborough & District finals at Lady Lumley’s School, Pickering, with Guy Harris, Gareth Skelton and Kieran Bowes all scoring in double figures, while the ‘A’ team did not concede a point in 15 minutes of play.
They then beat Malton School 43-16 in the final. Nathan Kitching and Guy Harris dominated the first half as Ryedale led 21-6 at half-time. Morgan Fraser and Matt Butler then led the charge to victory.
Ryedale School’s Year 10 team also became district champions after beating Graham School 55-9 in the semi-finals and Scalby School 66-6 in the final, with Ryan Hamblett and Rory Talling starring.
Ryedale School also enjoyed district success in Year 10 hockey, beating Whitby College 7-0 in the competition final. Alice Hall scored four goals with Issy Dwyer, Hattie Braithwaite and Catherine Ball also netting.
