A VERY strong Sandal outfit beat Malton & Norton Under-13s 43-12 at home.

The visitors from Ryedale started well, but it was Sandal who struck first.

The game continued in a similar pattern with Sandal scoring until George Austin-Thompson was released down the left wing by good passing.

His pace did the rest as he touched down under the posts, Tom Jones adding the conversion.

In the second half, Malt tackled bravely and a tap penalty led to Austin-Thompson drawing several defenders before releasing Joe Browne for a well-worked try.

Malton & Norton U12s won 28-0 at Driffield before holding Hull Ionians to a 0-0 draw.

Oliver Kelsey, following good work by Adam Finlinson and Thomas Barker, scored the first try and he was on target again soon after as Malton enjoyed a 14-0 lead at half-time.

Jack Thomas went over from a few metres out, after a good run from Ben Edwards, as Malton maintained their quality rugby.

Kelsey grabbed his hat-trick try and Thomas converted to put the seal on the victory.

Weather conditions took their toll in the second game against Ionians and it took good tackling from Peter Hudson and George Raines to hold the score at 0-0 at the break.

Malton started to dictate the game in the second half but could not find a way through.

Malton & Norton U10s played Harrogate at half-time of Leeds Carnegie’s British and Irish Cup tie against Bristol.

Nine of their players took on a Harrogate 11, who opened the scoring in the first minute.

Presley Carr crossed to level the scores but Harrogate scored four more tries to win 25-5.
