JAMES BARRETT got the winner as Brooklyn Under-16s edged Easingwold 3-2 in a York Minor League cracker.

Brooklyn went 1-0 up after three minutes when goalkeeper Nicholas Lock conceded a penalty.

However, they equalised as Barrett headed in Nathan Cross’s delivery, and Marcus Brigham’s corner was headed in by man-of-the-match Josh Singleton.

Easingwold equalised in the second half and Brooklyn missed several good chances before Barrett ran onto a through ball to slot past the ’keeper.

Stephen Kerr hit four goals as Brooklyn U13s returned to form to beat Thorpe Blues 6-0.

His first was a diving header from a Jamie Allen cross, his second a tap-in from an Allen flick, and his third a penalty after a foul on Harry Cooper, which also brought a red card.

Allen also scored a penalty after a foul on Will Scholefield, and Cooper got a deserved goal.

The man of the match was defender Jake Fraser. Old Malton St Mary’s U13s drew 2-2 with Stamford Bridge U13s.

Jake Wiles slotted home Jack Villa Fordon’s superb cross for Malt but, despite fine saves from stand-in ’keeper Harrison Cottam, Bridge equalised and forged ahead against the run of play. Villa Fordon equalised with a well-taken solo effort.

Old Malton St Mary’s U12s produced a good performance to overcome Tockwith 5-2. Malton twice went close before the visitors struck first. Lysander Jones equalised after good work by Ben Ilsley and, following a wonderful save from Saints ’keeper Zak Thompson, Malton took the lead via an own goal.

Jones notched his second after good work from Von Sumsard and Josh Lee and, although Tockwith pulled a goal back, Patrick Jackson struck back from 20 yards and Ben Ilsley sealed victory.

Pickering Town U12s beat a strong Goldsborough United 4-2 in the Scarborough Minor League.

Harry Coldbeck, in his best game of the season, scored twice, the second after a flowing counter attack involving George Ridler and Tom Wright.

Wright fired in off a post from outside the box and, after the break, Jordan Anderson made it 4-0.

York & Ryedale Mitchell League division two leaders Pickering Town U11s won 3-1 at Hamilton Panthers with goals from Sam Jenkins, set up by Billy Fewster, Isaac Finch, with a deflected effort after fine footwork by Sam Booth, and Booth himself, with a solo strike.

Billy Leech scored a fine first-half hat-trick as Brooklyn U11s came from behind to beat York Railway Institute 5-1.

Thomas Davies superbly played in Leech in for his first goal, with a James Barker cross and Lewis Saunders pass creating his second and third.

Saunders and Hamish Hudson netted as Brooklyn dominated the second half. Ben Evans enjoyed a fine debut in defence, though Brooklyn were still grateful to a top display in goal by Billy Chapman.

Florence Pegrum was the player of the match as she scored a superb solo goal to give Brooklyn U11s Girls their best result of term with a 1-0 win at top-four rivals Brayton Belles.

It was always going to be a tight game and Brayton started the stronger but could not break through a determined defence of Kristen Brady and Katie Robinson. Brooklyn started to press but could not find a goal until, in an excellent second half, Pegrum struck.

Old St Mary’s Malton U10s were pegged back in a 1-1 draw at Tockwith.

Malton competed well on a difficult surface and, after several good chances, took the lead when man-of-the-match midfielder Jack Mudd-Bowes fired home from the edge of the box Further pressure didn’t bring more goals, though, and Tockwith levelled late on, the referee deeming the ball had crossed the line despite Daniel Hill’s clearance.

The second game also ended 1-1. Malton again created more chances but needed a late equaliser from goalkeeper-turned-striker Seb Allan-Swallow.

Brooklyn U10s Lions edged Carr Vikings 4-3 in their first competitive game of the season. Brooklyn goals in a ding-dong encounter came from Ethan Oakes (2) and Oliver Towse (2), while Andy Cook made some fine saves.

The Tigers lost the second game 2-1, Howe netting.

Heslerton U10s stunned Scarborough Minor League champions Seamer, Tom Owen thundering home the game’s only goal from distance.

Seamer had begun well but Heslerton defender Logan Craggs, who excelled in the mud, led a determined display. Goalkeeper Ben Peckitt and midfielder Nathan Bennison were the men of the match for Heslerton U9s against West Pier.

Cihan Eroglu and Dylan Fawcett showed resilience in defence, while Charlie Richardson scored a cracker.

It was cracking way to get off the mark too, as Hezzo came from two goals down to beat Phoenix Colts 3-0. Phoenix deservedly went 2-0 up, but a huge goal kick from the impressive Abbie Fredriksen fell nicely to Kian Stead, who netted his first of two goals.

Conor Miles then equalised and Stead bagged the decisive third.
