Thornton-le-Dale Under-13s booked their place in the Scarborough & District League’s Schneider Electric U13s League Cup final with an impressive 4-0 victory over Cayton Corinthians.

The first half was even but neither side could convert chances. Thornton came out much the stronger in the second half and a great strike from captain James Mudd put them ahead.

Further goals from Harvey D’Alquin, Nathan Konya and Mudd, with a late penalty after D’Alquin was brought down following a great run, sealed victory.

Thornton will face Ayton Athletic in the final.

Brooklyn U15s fell out of the York U15s League Cup at the semi-final stage after a 7-2 loss to Wheldrake.

Brooklyn were outplayed from start to finish by their second division opponents, pulled apart all over the pitch.

James Barrett, Brooklyn’s top performer, scored with a neat chip after being put through by Lewis Botham, but Wheldrake led 5-1 at the break.

Brooklyn to their credit never stopped trying, and Lewis Botham got a consolation, with a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner.

Ryan Mintoft hit a hat-trick as Kirkbymoorside U15s beat Scholes Park Raiders 5-1. Jordan Horsforth and Jordan Thackeray also netted.

Pickering Town U11s lost 3-1 to Flixton U11s in the Scarborough & District League’s Specsavers U11s League Cup semi-final.

Town took an early lead as Jordan Anderson tapped in after good approach play from Tom Wright.

However, Flixton equalised and, after Anderson went close for Town, two goals in five minutes sealed the result. A Wright free-kick was deflected onto the bar late on while at the other end a superb save by Town goalkeeper Matty Ridley kept the score at 3-1.

Pickering Town U13s beat Pocklington 4-1 thanks to second-half braces from strikers Luke Balderson and Luke Hornby.

The Pikes fell behind just before half-time, despite dominating, when goalkeeper Tom Poor diverted a shot onto a post only for the rebound to fall kindly to Pocklington.

But a delightful ball from Balderson saw Hornby lob the onrushing keeper and, after more pressure, Balderson finally put the Pikes ahead on 63 minutes. Two minutes later Hornby reacted first to blast home a rebound, and Balderson saved the best for last with a 25-yard strike.

Kirkbymoorside U13s went goal crazy against Scarborough Sports, winning 18-0.

Alex Lilley and Lewis Eustace bagged four goals apiece, with Adam Eustace (2), Ayrton Fletcher, Lucas Davison (3), Sam Newman (3) and Tom Watson the other marksmen.

Kirkbymoorside U12s also enjoyed a goal fest at West Pier, winning 11-1.

James Farrow led the way with a hat-trick, with Daniel Ward, Matthew Tarry (2), Joe Harland (2), Ben Teasdale (2) and Will Lockett also on target.

Heslerton U12s lost 5-2 to Hunmanby, despite a fine man-of-the-match display from James Findlay.

For the hosts, Kian Stead finished off a great through ball from Charlie Pickard, who also hit the side-netting before getting the second goal following a movement started by Ben Atkinson. Zak Hutchinson and Andy Maloney also impressed.

Brooklyn U12s drew 1-1 at Thorpe. Good defence by man-of-the-match Aidan Lumby, a cracking save by Anthony Boyes and a crucial clearance by Monty Pegrum kept Brooklyn’s deficit to 1-0 before Stephen Kerr, the players’ player of the match, got his reward after several attempts with an impressive run and finish.

Heslerton U10s came from behind late on to draw 2-2 with Scalby Stags.

Heslerton could have been 4-0 up but hit the bar twice and blazed over and Scalby went two up against the run of the play.

In the last five minutes, a great move down the left saw Thomas Stockdale slot home before Sam Booth and Ethan Smith set up David Hayward to blast home the deserved equaliser. Joel Buckle was the man of the match.

Brooklyn U9s Lions drew 2-2 at a hardworking Osbaldwick ‘A’.

The York outfit twice took the lead but the Lions, despite not getting into their passing stride, equalised through Matthew Lock, finishing a good move, and Will Hartley, firing home after Brooklyn pressure.

The Lions won the second match 1-0, with a strike from goalkeeper Andy Cook, who was playing outfield in this game. Brooklyn’s man of the match was the ever-improving Joe O’Brien.

Brooklyn U9s Tigers played some good passing football in a 4-0 win at Osbaldwick ‘B’.

Shauna Yates, the hard-working Kian Charlton, Josh McBurnie, with a strong shot, and the impressive Rhys Grainge were on target. McBurnie and Emily Cooper controlled the midfield well.

The second game ended 1-1, Grainge scoring the Tigers’ goal. Every player played their part in a great team performance, Charlton the star of the show.

Heslerton U8s gave their best display of term, despite losing 2-1 to Holt.

Nathen Bennison made good early saves with Noah Garnett and Dylan Fawcett holding a good defensive line, but Holt scored twice against the run of play.

Heslerton chances fell to Brandon McCann, Charlie Blades and Jalen Welburn before Charlie Richardson netted with a magnificent strike which sealed his man-of-the-match award.
