Perri Shakes-Drayton to start McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k run

Olympic 400-metre hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton will be in Scarborough on Sunday, October 28 to officially start the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k run and offer hints and tips to those taking part.

More than 1,100 runners are expected to participate in the annual event, which will start at the Scarborough SPA Complex at 10am. A family fun run covering 2.5km will follow at 11.30am.

Perri Shakes-Drayton is an ambassador for Scarborough-based McCain Foods, partner of UK Athletics and of the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k and Fun Run.

Shakes-Drayton said: “I really enjoyed being part of last year’s event and am thrilled to be back.

“The Yorkshire Coast 10k is a brilliant opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in athletics, and it’s great there is a fun run so children can join in as well.”
