Fourth hole in one for York Golf Club's Ken Beavan

YORK Golf Club’s Ken Beavan is an ace – four times over.

The player bagged his fourth hole in one – almost 20 years after his first one-shot wonder.

The latest success was in the Harrods Bag Hat competition with his five-wood shot finding the cup at the second hole. His playing partners were Andy Shepherd and Mike Robinson.

Beavan, a former City of York councillor, notched his first ace in a Turkey competition again at the second hole at York GC in November 1992, this time with a five iron.

Two years later in an evening medal, Beaven repeated his ace feat at the second, again with a five iron to qualify him for the hole-in-one club.

His third ace was in 2001, also in the Harrods Bag Hat, but this time on the seventh hole using a seven wood.

After his fourth one-hit shot into the cup, this time using a five wood, Beaven quipped: “With Bells (whisky) at £17 a bottle I’ll be playing to miss in future.”
