Hay – Doc’s ready to call

DOC HAY, the super sprinter trained by Nawton’s David O’Meara, tops the weights for the Coral Sprint Trophy at York Racecourse on Saturday.

The five-year-old, fresh from winning a Listed race at Ascot last weekend and following a similarly gritty performance to take the Portland Stakes at Doncaster last month, is one of 63 entries for the six-furlong dash on York’s final day of the season.

Jockey Danny Tudhope, who has piloted the horse in six of his nine races this season, is set to stay in the saddle off a mark of 9st 11lbs. Other notables in the field include Jack Dexter, the early ante-post favourite trained by Jim Goldie, and Mass Rally, saddled by Michael Dods.

Malton trainer Richard Fahey accounts for seven of the entries, while Hambleton colleague Kevin Ryan has five.
