Football: Reece Piercy glee after three-year break

REECE Piercy marked his return to action three years after breaking a leg by helping Kirkbymoorside Reserves move to the top of the newitts.com Beckett League first division table.
A goal from Piercy completed Moorsiders’ 6-0 win at Norton United with Jason Brown (2), Aaron Rivis, an own goal and Lee Nesfield also on the scoresheet.
Goalkeeper Andy Beardmore saved Norton from a heavier defeat, while Kirkby 16-year-old Max Fraser was man of the match.
Rosedale dropped to second after a shock 3-2 defeat at Heslerton, who recorded their first league win of this season thanks to efforts by man-of-the-match Wayne Pilmoor, Cirk Newton and David Thompson.
Substitute Kyle Clacherty – Rosedale’s top performer – replied with a brace.
Man-of-the-match Paul Harland, Wayne Moon, Robbie Preston and David Wilkinson all netted as Sinnington overcame Kirkdale United 4-1.
James Magson got a consolation for Kirkdale with Dean Coote the pick of their players.
In division two, Ryedale Sports Club Reserves maintained their 100 per cent league record by beating Gillamoor Reserves 7-0 with Matty Gardner hitting a hat-trick, Heath Brown heading in twice and Ryan Boyes and Marc Dobson also on target.
Jordan Horsley earned Rillington Athletic Reserves a 1-1 draw against Snainton Reserves, who had earlier led through Scott Woodhead.
The man-of-the-match winners were Danny O’Dwyer (Rillington) and Jono Davies (Snainton).
In the second round of the Ryedale Hospital Cup, Bagby & Balk beat Easingwold Town 3-0 with Andrew Parkinson (2) and Stuart Winter the marksmen and Graham Barker the man of the match.
Gillamoor beat Slingsby 8-0 as Josh Tateson claimed his first hat-trick of the season. Man-of-the-match Daryl Rivis (2), player-manager Craig Ibbotson, Luke Tateson and Scott Simpson joined him on the scoresheet. Neil Foster and Paul Richardson impressed in defeat for Slingsby.
Union Rovers triumphed 7-0 against Pickering Knights after man-of-the-match Dean Sleightholme’s second-half hat-trick followed goals from Phil Smith, Duane Young, Anthony Taylor and Martin Benson. Greg Fawcett stood out for Knights.
