Simon Dyson bows out of Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

NORTH Yorkshire golfer Simon Dyson tumbled out of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship despite a three under par third round.

After playing the first two rounds on Carnoustie and Kingsbarns in one over par, the 34-year-old, who is struggling with an injury, carded a 69 on St Andrews on Saturday.

However, the Malton & Norton Golf Club star’s two under par total was not enough to earn him a place in yesterday’s final round as he missed the cut by three shots.

Starting on the tenth, Dyson bogeyed the 11th, but then picked up shots at the 13th and 14th holes. A dropped shot at the 17th was erased by a birdie at the 18th.

Having parred the opening five holes of the front nine, Dyson birdied the par four sixth and par four ninth, but that was only enough to move him up to joint 94th.

The tournament was won by South Africa’s Branden Grace.
