Winter league on lookout for new anglers

THE York Winter Angling League are looking for teams to sign up ahead of the new season.
The league are staging a registration night at Tang Hall WMC on Wednesday, October 10, at 8pm.
Any new teams interested in joining the six-match series can register their team on the night. Each team should include six anglers and the cost of entry is £6 per team.
The league’s annual general meeting will be held at Tang Hall WMC on Wednesday, October 24, at 8pm.
Individual anglers looking to join a team for the forthcomming season should phone Paul Issatt on 01757 708953.
Meanwhile, the John Smith’s Hospital Cup has been cancelled.
The competition was scheduled to be fished on the River Ouse below York on Sunday.
The York and District Amalgamation of Anglers will stage a veterans’ match at Laybourne Lakes’ Marley Pool on Wednesday, October 10.
The draw takes place at 10.30am, with fishing from 11.30am to 4.30pm.
