Football: Sinnington shock Seamer Sports

Sinnington gained a memorable victory in the first round of the Scarborough & District FA District Cup, when beating Scarborough & District League division one outfit Seamer Sports 2-1 with an outstanding performance.
Seamer took the lead in the first half thanks to former Pickering Town player Darren Clough, but early in the second half the Sinners, who play in the first division in the newitts.com Beckett League, were back on level terms thanks to a Rob Atkinson penalty.
The winning goal came 10 minutes from time through the game’s outstanding player, Robbie Preston.
The Sinners also had an impressive substitute appearance by teenager John Mitchell, son of player-manager Lee Mitchell, and their reward is a home draw against West Pier in the quarter-finals to be played on Saturday, November 24.
West Pier won 2-1 at Hunmanby United thanks to goals from Sam Hyde, after a good move involving Tommy Barker and Steve Sheader, and Mark Oldroyd. Hunmanby came back well and almost forced a penalty shoot-out.
Edgehill beat Ryedale Sports Club 2-1 in an all first division clash. Edgehill took the lead through Macie Kapynski’s unstoppable free-kick five minutes before the interval. Ryedale equalised early in the second half with a James Reed goal but Edgehill progressed into the quarter-finals thanks to a Elliot Sill winner. Sill had come on as a substitute for Kapynski, who injured himself with his goal celebrations.
Ayton came from behind to beat Whitby Fishermen 3-1 with two goals by player-manager Steve Roberts, the former Pickering Town favourite, and one from Mikey Dennis. It was a superb game.
Newlands Park won 2-0 at Fishburn Park Reserves thanks to goals by Joe Logan after 20 minutes and Kile Fields three minutes from time. Park will visit Eastfield St James in the quarter-finals.
Eastfield St James edged Filey Town 13-12 in a marathon penalty shoot-out after the game had ended 1-1.
Scalby beat Cayton Corinthians 4-3 in an all-second division clash thanks to goals by Shaun Scales, Tommy Gray, Danny Birley and Alex Barthe.
Ups and Downes in super Rills win
Rillington Athletic had a tremendous 4-3 win over Edgehill Reserves in the second division of the Scarborough & District League.
Tom Scales fired Edgehill into the lead on the half-hour mark, but Dan Simpson soon scored two goals in a minute to turn it around and, just before half-time, James Lawley doubled the lead with a 25-yard free-kick.
In the second half, Edgehill stormed back to level through Joe Cairns and John-Paul Watson but, with 15 minutes remaining, Paul Downes scored Rillington’s winner.
Snainton and Filey Town Reserves shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Lee Drydale opened the goalscoring for the hosts before a second-half brace by Jordan Powell put Filey ahead. Drydale matched that plunder with his second in the closing minutes of an entertaining game.
Ian Laing blasted six goals as Flixton beat Newlands Park Reserves 7-2. Keith Skelton got their other goal.
In division three, Ayton Reserves had a great 6-5 win at local rivals Seamer Sports Reserves thanks to goals by Corey White, Neil Prentice, Mark Craven, Jamie Gilligan and Kieran Friett (2).
