Darts: Newbies given Moors lesson

Moors League newcomers Appletree, Marton, were given a darts lesson by Moors Inn as they crashed 9-1 despite taking the lead through Bill Tweddle.
Tom Pickering levelled for Moors after hitting a 140, helping his team to the top of the table after week one.
Champions White Swan edged out the other new entrants, Crown Inn, Hutton, 6-4 with Patrick Bernstein and Simon Gospel the only individual winners for Crown.
New Inn romped 4-0 up against Sun Inn with wins from Mike Hodgson, Mick Ellerby, Al Hodgson and Nie Monkman (140, 27-dart leg). Keith Moss hit a 160 as Sun levelled at 4-4 but Ady Cook (140, 120) helped New Inn home 6-4.
The Blacksmiths Arms, Lastingham, teams met each other with the ‘A’ team, led by Dave Collinson (2x100), taking the honours 7-3. Abigail Wilson (140, 100) top scored for the ‘B’ team.
The Buck Inn, Wrelton, sides also met and the ‘B’ team built an unassailable 6-0 lead, Mike Peirson recording two tons along the way.
Pop Ellerby finally got the ‘A’ team on the scoresheet and they took pairs and threes points for a more respectable 7-3 defeat.
Jimmy Brough (3x100) led Blacksmiths, Hartoft, to a 7-3 victory at Coach House. Bri Cook and Laura Thompson won for the home team.
