Thirsk and Sewerby Harriers quintet led by Alan Harman

Five Thirsk and Sewerby Harriers were among the thousands of finishers in this year’s Great North Run.

Alan Harman in his 15th consecutive GNR, gained a solid time of one hour, 44 minutes and 43 seconds – his best for a year or two.

In their first attempt at the run, Lynne Jackson and Lisa Brown both clocked 2.11-20 with Janet Balmain just behind in 2.11-25. Phillip Craig came home in 2.28-49.

Jack Spence had another superb performance in the junior Great North Run the previous day when he finished ninth in 14 minutes and 18 seconds over the junior four-kilometre course.

The Roseberry Topping Fell race, saw Noel Clough come seventh out of 91 finishers in 14.10, while Sarah Glover was 49th in 17.56, Alan Wikeley 76th and first M65 in 22.02 and Lorraine Hiles 79th in 22.51.
