Whitby TOWN will travel to Blue Square Bet North side Stalybridge Celtic in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup after they beat Droylsden 4-3.

Nathan Mulligan’s last-minute goal put The Blues into the hat for the next round following a pulsating home cup tie.

He had fired his side into the lead after 18 minutes, an advantage which was doubled by Alex White with 18 minutes remaining. Lee Rick pulled a goal back for the visitors almost immediately before substitute Steven Snaith restored Whitby’s two goal advantage.

An own goal from Ibrahim Hassan brought the visitors back into the game, who then equalised through Nat Kerr, before Mulligan’s late strike secured victory.

Last Tuesday, Whitby picked up their second point of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at North Ferriby United. They remain bottom of the table.

Whitby are at Chorley on Saturday in the first round qualifying in the FA Trophy. Chorley are currently 8th in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League. If the game ends in a draw, the replay will be at Whitby next Wednesday, kick off 7.45pm.
