Trial Biking: Milner chasing the leader
10:10am Wednesday 19th September 2012 in Sport
SCARBOROUGH rider Simon Kershaw posted the best result at Middlesbrough DMC’s annual Two- Day Charity trial at Woodhead Farm, Fryup, and took full East York Championship points to retain the lead over Leavening’s Adam Milner with two rounds to go.
The first day saw Kershaw drop marks at the awkward rocks at section three but Milner remained feet up with a cracking ride. But the rocky gully of section six saw Kershaw at his best with three cleans, creating a three-point overnight advantage from Milner.
Kirkbymoorside teenager Dan Peace, fresh from his British Youth Championship triumph, equalled the scores of the top experts and was the only rider to stay unpenalised on the difficult rocks and waterfall of 14 and 15. Young brother Jack won youth ‘B’ with an inspired ride, losing single-figure scores each day.
Dan Peace also gave the ride of the day at Northallerton DMC’s trial at Low Broomflat Farm, Chopgate on Sunday.
Taking on the expert course around a superb four-lap, 12-section rocky venue, Peace dropped only two marks, one on section six and one when he dropped between the two double slabs on the exit of 10. Balancing at the base of the seven-foot step, he just needed a dab to help the 125cc bike up and out of the exit.
Not to be outdone, brother Jack was faultless on the ‘A’ class route.
