PHIL ROBERTS won Tuesday’s G B Angling Club match on the Little Tench Lake at Westland’s Fishery with a haul of 83lb from peg 10.
Fishing up in the water with banded pellet on the 10-metre pole, he caught mainly F1 carp up to the 2lb mark.
Colin McNeil secured second place from peg four with a level 73lb.
McNeil was back to his best by Wednesday, putting 83lb 13oz on the scales at Forest Lane Fishery, Alne, to comfortably win the York midweek match.
Sitting at peg eight and using his trademark pole and paste approach, he banked carp to 5lb plus a bonus ghost carp that tipped the scales at 12lb.
Ralph Pressdee was second with 54lb 15oz.
McNeil also dominated Plaxton’s Friday match on the Folly Lake at Risby Park with a catch of 63lb from peg 26.
This time he alternated between pellet and paste on the nine-metre pole to take carp to 3lb and a few tench to 1lb.
Brian Pallister sat next to the winner and was second with 37lb 12oz.
Ken Herbert put together a net of 27lb 5oz to win last Monday’s Contemptibles match on the Carp Lake at Wykeham Fishery.
Sitting at peg 17 and utilising the pole at 10 metres with either worm or pellet for bait, he took carp to 2lb, plus smaller skimmers and crucian carp.
Maureen Collier crossed the line in second, weighing in with 24lb 7oz to relegate Ray Jones into third with 22lb 11oz.
The Barry Lightfoot Memorial Match takes place this Sunday at Hundred Oaks Lake, Newton on Derwent. The draw takes place in the fishery car park at 9am. For more information or to reserve a place, phone Paul Thompson on 01653 618602.
