Yorkshire edging towards County Championship promotion
12:42pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in Sport By Chris Parrott
YORKSHIRE continued to build a sizeable second-innings lead during the morning session on day three of their LV= County Championship match at Essex.
At lunch they had an advantage of 245 runs on 110-5.
Two wickets fell during the session with Adam Lyth the first to go for 51 thanks to an excellent catch at short-leg by Jaik Mickleburgh off Tom Westley.
The same bowler then removed Gary Ballance for 27.
By the interval, Anthony McGrath was unbeaten on 12, with Andrew Hodd on one.
At Cardiff, Kent took lunch still 93 runs short of avoiding an innings defeat to Glamorgan on 127-5 in their second-innings.
If they don’t win that match then Yorkshire will be promoted regardless of the final outcome of their match at Chelmsford.
