Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers' Atkinson aces Wetherby race

PAUL Atkinson was the first Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers finisher in the Wetherby 10k event which attracted almost 800 runners.
Atkinson came home in 70th place in a time of 42 minutes 27 seconds with club-mates Rob Burn 103rd in 44.16, Christine Burn 526th in 58.32 and Ian Codling 613th in 62.05.
Pete Wilkin, meanwhile, cycled to the village of Cray, near Buckden, for the fell race from Cray up Buckden Pike and back.
He was 11th in 30.13 with club-mate Noel Clough ninth in 28.15, the latter offering Wilkin a welcome lift home in his car.
