Kirkbymoorside ’s disappointing start to the Wearside League campaign continued when they lost 2-1 at fellow strugglers Annfield Plain on Saturday.

Victory against one of the sides below them would have seen the Moorsiders move up in to a mid-table position but they went down by the odd goal in three.

Annfield Plain took the lead in the first half with a Maxim Zaboris goal but Kirkbymoorside equalised before the interval thanks to a Sarjo Cham penalty. Daniel Wilson netted the winner for the home side in the second period.

The result saw Annfield Plain move up to 19th place, one slot ahead of the Moorsiders in the 22-team league.

The Ryedale side are at Willington tonight (Wednesday, kick off 7.30pm) and on Saturday travel to Richmond Town.
