OLD Malton St Mary’s pushed their unbeaten away run to 18 York Minster Engineering Premier Football league games with a 3-1 win at York RI.
It was a great response by the Ryedale side to last week’s defeat against Copmanthorpe which ended their 32-match unbeaten run.
Danny Fogg gave the champions the lead at the break and though this was cancelled out by a Liam Keenaghan penalty, goals from skipper Robbie Baker and Jon Newton earned Old Malton victory.
It also marked St Mary’s first double of the season having already beaten RI at home, 1-0 last month. Selby RSSC notched up their first-ever win in the premier league as they won 3-2 at Terrington. John Page put the visitors in front with Tim Jewitt doubling Selby’s advantage before Ben Richardson pulled a goal back for the hosts.
Shane Caulkill restored Selby’s two-goal lead and his team secured their second successive victory at Terrington despite a late goal from Mikey Brown.
Two goals from Simon Reeves helped Malton & Norton extend their unbeaten run from last season to 14 matches as they drew 2-2 at promoted Avia in their opening division one game of the season. Tom Shirley and Neil Richardson replied for Aviva.
