Football: Preston nicks it for Sinnington
2:50pm Wednesday 12th September 2012 in Sport
ROBBIE Preston was the matchwinner as Sinnington edged out Kirkdale United in the first round of the Ryedale Hospital Cup on Saturday.
He struck after 75 minutes to settle an outstanding tie. Jake Fox was Kirkdale’s man of the match, while David Wilkinson won the Sinnington award.
Bagby & Balk had to fight for the full 90 minutes to beat second division newcomers Snainton 3-2 in an end to end game.
Darren Bell scored to put Bagby & Balk ahead, Ross Triffet equalised for visiting Snainton, who were very unlucky not to be in front before half-time.
Andrew Parkinson scored to restore Bagby and Balk’s lead, Jono Davies equalised 15 minutes from time but Snainton lost in the last few seconds when Stuart Winter crossed the ball for Bagby and Balk’s man of the match, Martin Kendall, to head the winner and break Snainton’s hearts.
Will Smith scored the winner two minutes from the end as Duncombe Park won 2-1 at Kirkbymoorside Reserves, whose Danny Thornton had cancelled out James Craig’s opener.
