Football: Heslerton’s make class count against Slingsby

FIRST division Heslerton outgunned second division Slingsby 7-1 in the first round of the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy.
Heslerton’s goals came from David Thompson (3), Steve Parker (2), Billy Bowns and Andy Sellars. Sean Keefe scored for Slingsby with a penalty.
Man of the match winners were Luke Gibson and Joe Brown shared the Slingsby award, Mike Clark won the Heslerton award for whom Billy Bowns was impressive.
First division Union Rovers needed extra time before seeing off second division Aislaby United 3-0 with goals from Dean Sleightholme (2) and Paul Holder.
Paul Holder Union Rovers Man of the Match, Ian Blanchard won the Aislaby Man of the Match award.
Thornton-le-Dale won 4-2 at Snainton Reserves with Luke Hobbs (2), Tom Sigsworth and David Elliot on target, while David Bateson, Jonathan Chapman, and Ross Triffit netted for Snainton.
Heslerton Reserves entertained Union Rovers 2nds in an-all second division clash with Union emerging 3-2 victors thanks to efforts by Craig Stephens, Calum Dent, and Phil Smith. Tom Harrison and Dan Watson scored for Heslerton.
