Football: Striker Jamie Clarke rejoins Whitby Town

Whitby Town have re-signed last season’s leading goalscorer Jamie Clarke from Darlington 1883.

Town, still without a Evo-Stik League premier division win, had a mixed results last week.

They lost 1-0 at home to FC United of Manchester on Wednesday night in front of a crowd of 482. The only goal came after 58 minutes when Whitby keeper Nick Liversedge tipped a Mike Norton header onto the bar and Matthew Wolfenden was on hand to net the rebound.

Whitby visited Ossett Town in the FA Cup first round qualifying on Saturday, Nathan Mulligan opened the scoring after nine minutes with an unstoppable free-kick, but Ossett equalised deep into stoppage time through skipper James Cottrell to force a replay at Whitby tonight (Wednesday, kick off 7.45pm).

Whitby entertain Evo-Stik League table toppers Marine on Saturday (kick off 3pm).
